After receiving a BFA in Photographic Illustration from the Rochester Institute of Technology, Stephen Black began a career in which art, writing, video and other media complemented each other. 

He has exhibited in Tokyo, Hong Kong, Paris, Singapore and Europe and  worked for large media companies such as Cartoon Network, CNN, Fuji TV, France 2 and yes, even Fox. His photographic work has been published in Hanatsubaki, Kurashi no Techo as well as Playboy and People magazine. After his last major photographic exhibition in Singapore, he was given an eight page profile in Ish, amongst other media coverage. Although both  the No Se No school of Lower Manhattan and Japanese butoh have shaped his artistic life, his greatest influences are books, cities and people.

2008
- Publication of Bus Stopping, a photographic book about Singapore and exhibition at the Arts House Singapore
-Commissioned by Singapore Science Center to make a 3D underwater game

2007
-Presentation at the Rojak event night, organized by Farm at LaSalle College of the Arts.
-Game Development classes taught at e2max game center, Singapore Science Center, SMRT and the Association of Muslim Professionals
 -Commissioned to document the international cooking projects of Yannick Alleno for a book to be published in 2009. Kazuko Masui and Yannick Alleno are the authors and the cities involved are Manhattan(including Per Se, the restaurant run by Thomas Keller), Brunei, Seville(including la hacienda run by Ferran Adria) and Tokyo (Michelin Awards Ceremony & the 3 star sushi restaurant Mizutani)
-Photojournalist for Snaptrap and Reading Plus, magazines for secondary and primary school students.
-collaborations with Yeo Shi Yun on a booklet of her work as well as a Moleskine a notebook displayed at Page One
-art director for the cover of Checkpoint, the second album by the Unseen Guest  www.unseenguest.com

-Development of A CDK-based Trial Project for Canberra Primary School and the MoE
-Development of a CDK-based Game/Animation Course for Bartley Secondary school
-Lead Actor in Boo Jun Feng's short film, The Changi Murals. Film selected for Singapore Film Festival
-Art Director/Cover photographer for Checkpoint, the second album by the Unseen Guest(tuition records, Germany). Also art director for their first album, Out There
-One Hundred Thousand Words, A presentation of visual collaborations with poets Including Cyril Wong, Koh Tsin Yen, Arleen Schloss, Kumiko Akiyoshi, Barae and a sample of a video based on Carl Sandberg's Chicago Poem

During the premier of the site, a commissioned screensaver was also available. Over 50,000 were downloaded.

Attended the Bioneer conference in San Rafael California, attending lectures by (among others) Dr. Andrew Weil and Paul Stamets. Dr. Weil is a respected author and internationally recognized expert on medicinal plants. Paul Stamets is a pioneer in the area of "fungal bioremediation" as well as a scholar and conservationist.

Commissioned by "Street Market" a Tokyo restaurant to provide several large murals for the restaurant's interior/exterior
